ABOUT Courtenay
Courtenay has significant experience in resolving complex legal issues involving criminal, labor & employment, landlord-tenant, and business law. Courtenay is an accomplished litigator, having conducted more than 40 jury trials and hundreds of bench trials and hearings, as well as serving as counsel at mediation, arbitration, depositions, and employment negotiations. Courtenay began her legal career as a Deputy District Attorney for Contra Costa County in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she prosecuted DUI's and other misdemeanor offenses, as well as general felonies, domestic violence, sexual assault, aggravated felony, insanity plea, and sexually violent predator cases. Courtenay then worked as a Labor and Employment Attorney, representing public and private universities, cities, school districts, and other municipalities throughout California. Courtenay opened her own law firm after moving to Colorado in 2013. She has successfully represented clients in breach of contract, landlord-tenant, DUI, restraining order, non-compete, business acquisition, business sales, property dispute, whistleblower and wrongful termination, domestic violence, and plagiarism cases, and has defended more than a dozen businesses in ADA/Title III lawsuits (click here to see media coverage).
Courtenay is licensed to practice law in Colorado and California. She received her J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2004. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in psychology and a minor in business administration from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 2001.
